Hi yall!
I'm super excited that I was finally able to get Windows 10 installed on my Mac via Bootcamp. I have a question regarding how to boot back up in OSX though.
I understand that I should hold down the Option key when turning on the computer. When I do that, I can see three lit squares on the screen. I'm assuming these are my booting options. Is there a way to activate VoiceOver anywhere in this process so I can choose which drive?
Thanks.
no.
Oh, well, isn't that just lovely?
For those of you who use Bootcamp, how do you manage switching between operating systems?
Never mind. I got it figured out. Just in case anyone has this issue in the future,
here's what I learned from an article on applevis.com When starting the
machine, hold down the option key. I counted 5 Mississippis before I saw the
squares indicating bootable drives. The article indicated, and my experience
showed, that the first option which is highlighted is the largest partition. In my
case, this is the drive with OSX. If I want to boot in Mac, I just hit enter. My 2nd
largest partition is the Windows side. If I want to boot there, I press the right
arrow once and then press enter.
I have no idea what the 3rd square is, nor do I really care, I guess. lol
Anyway, I got it figured out so wanted to offer this to anyone who might deal
with it in the future.
I am now able to run Openbook on this machine and couldn't be more pleased.
the third one is your recovery partition.
Thanks for letting us know, DG.
Nicely stated.
I'm not sure where I learned this little gem, probably from the Mac Voice Over Network group on Facebook. Anyway, I'll share it here as it will hopefully help someone some day.
When yu want to reboot from Windows into Mac, go to the system tray. When it says Notification Shevron (or whatever it says there), press the space bar. I'm assuming you're using Jaws. Once you've done that, hit the left arrow until you hear "bootcamp control panel." Activate that by hitting space. Then arrow down until it says reboot in OSX. Activate that and voila!
I should have known better than to think Apple would have left this task inaccessible. lol
Well, unless you've chosen it to boot in windows in your startup disk under system preferences on the mac side, it will always restart in mac osx by default.
Good to know all this. thank you for sharing.
